What is PRP Hair Treatment in London?
At the Rae clinic, we offer one of the most comprehensive PRP hair treatments in London.
We use several bespoke regenerative medical treatments to help restore hair growth. Components range from human recombinant growth factors, to Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF), a second generation advanced form of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy. In addition, we use hair follicle micrografts (the Rigenera Activa® protocol).
Dr. Ali Ghanem is a PhD in stem cell biology and is an expert in hair growth treatments. He is regarded as one of London’s leading doctors in the field of PRP Hair treatments.

What is PRP Hair Treatment London for?
By injecting regenerative components into the scalp, among which, regenerative cells, natural proteins and growth factors, we stimulate the dormant hair follicles. As a result, we are able to recreate or rather ‘kickstart’ the growth phase of the hair.
Our PRP hair treatment includes extracting many key, natural components from a sample of your own blood. We do so by breaking down the sample into white blood cells, blood vessel cells, regenerative cells and platelets, that contain your own growth factors.
In addition to our PRP/PRF protocol, we are also able to combine a Rigenera protocol, by which we extract similar growth factors from the same hair follicles.
Combined with the Rigenera protocol, our PRP hair treatment is thus considered to be one of the most comprehensive hair treatments in London.
The Regenerative Factor
At the Rae Clinic we favour PRF (2nd generation PRP) for hair restoration which has demonstrated superior clinical results. In essence, it uses higher concentrations of regenerative cells and, as a result, acts more effectively in stimulating hair regrowth.
How does it work?
We place your blood sample in a centrifuge working at a lower speed in order to keep more of the blood components intact. Since we handle sample delicately, its components suffer less trauma, making it more effective upon re-injection.
The Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) extraction contains approximately ten times the concentration of platelets compared to a normal blood sample. Additionally, the Fibrin component acts as a natural glue that holds the platelets and stem cells inside the areas where they are re-injected. Therefore, the platelets, unable to disperse, are thus able to stimulate new hair growth.
What is the micrograft Rigenera Activa® procedure?
The Rigenera Activa® procedure is based on extracting small tissue samples known as micro-grafts from the back of the scalp. The samples contain full thickness composite scalp tissue, including several hair follicles, fat and vascular tissue. Subsequently, we process the tissue using a special machine with a microscopic cutting device. In this way we are able to release large quantities of growth factors without harming the hair and blood vessels. Finally, we harvest the stem cells from the hair follicles, blood vessels and fat tissue into a cell rich solution.
We then inject this rich cell solution into the affected scalp areas in a similar way to the PRP hair treatment described above.
How do I know if I am suitable for treatment?During a consultation with our doctor you will discuss your specific type and stage of hair loss.
PRP hair treatmenst work best for men and women who are in the early stages of hair loss. If you only recently noticed this condition you will be an ideal candidate.
Our doctor can assess whether non-surgical hair restoration is the best option for you, or if you would benefit more from surgical hair transplantation.
What can I expect to happen during treatment?1. We take a blood sample from your arm.
2. We centrifuge the blood sample in order to separate the blood components.
3. The doctor extracts the liquids needed for the iPRF solution, which includes the platelet layer containing stem cells, white blood cells and growth factors.
4. Whilst the iPRF solution is concocted, we will cleanse your scalp and apply numbing cream in order to reduce any discomfort that might occur from the injections.
5. We then inject the iPRF into the scalp in the targeted area(s), using superficial injections spaced approximately one centimetre apart.
How many treatments will I need?We usually recommend 6-8 treatments, spaced every one to three months. However, our doctor will tailor your treatment to the type and severity of your hair loss.
For Rigenera Activa® treatments, a single procedure is adequate in most cases. If necessary, we can repeat the procedure after 12 months.
Does It hurt?We use a topical aesthetic or numbing cream shortly before we start treatment to reduce any discomfort. Our doctor is an expert in pain managing and assisting anyone who is nervous about injections.
What are the possible side effects? You can return to your normal activities immediately after the treatment. however, you may notice some pinprick marks from the injection points and a general redness in your scalp for a few hours post-treatment. You can wash your scalp and hair immediately if you wish, but blow drying, colouring or using curling or straightening irons should be avoided.
When undergoing the Rigenera Activa® procedure, the donor sites (3 to 4 tiny wounds) would cause some discomfort. However, these are very small and should not prevent daily or recreational activities.
