Lumecca IPL

What is Lumecca IPL?

Lumecca is an IPL device (Intense Pulse Light) by Inmode. At the Rae clinic, we use this effective device for several indications with very positive feedback from our patients.

Years of sun and UV radiation exposure can have a detrimental effect on your hands, face, and décolletage. As a result, wrinkles, rough skin and pigmentation, age spots or brown freckles and marks, form.

We refer to this type of skin damage photo-damage since it is damage caused by exposure to light from the sun (UVA and UVB radiation). Markedly, even with the use of sun protection creams (SPF), sunscreens, and other protective skin agents, your skin is prone to photo-damage over time.

The Lumecca rejuvenates skin damaged from sunlight exposure using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment termed photo rejuvenation. In other words, with Lumecca’s unique technology, we can correct pigmentation, improve skin texture, and stimulate the production of new skin cells to restore a more youthful appearance.

What is Lumecca IPL for?

At the Rae clinic, we use Lumecca photo rejuvenation to improve:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles;
  • Acne;
  • Age spots, sunspots, patches of darker skin;
  • Rough textured skin;
  • Small thread veins around the nose;
  • General complexion correction and rejuvenation.

The Regenerative Factor

We specialise in combining our treatments with innovative regenerative medicine techniques to optimise the patients achieved results.
We use skincare products containing polypeptides, vitamins, and amino acids in combination with the Lumecca light treatment. As a result, we ensure your skin is healthy and well-nourished whilst your skin heals. Moreover, our regenerative factors also help to stimulate the production of new skin cells.

How does it work?

Lumecca’s IPL technology delivers repeated flashes of light in certain wavelengths to the treated area. When the light is absorbed by the melanin in the age spots and dark freckles or in the Hemoglobin in the red patches, the heat consequently accumulates in the treated area, breaking it down and encouraging the natural healing response of the skin to repair itself.

The Lumecca is one of the top-end devices on the market, owing to the delivery of the highest energy volume on a specific light wavelength. Thus, we can efficiently target pigmentation and vascular concerns and achieve outstanding results.

Repeated Lumecca treatments are needed to ensure that the pigmentation or vascular lesion is removed and to encourage further skin improvement.

FAQ

How do I know if I am suitable for treatment? During a consultation with our doctor you will discuss your concerns.
A skin analysis using the latest technologies will assist us in evaluating your skin condition.
Fairer skin types respond best to IPL skin treatments. Patients with darker, brown or black skin types (Fitzpatrick types V and VI) are not suitable for treatment with Lumecca as the skin absorbs more light and risks scarring. Alternative solutions are available for skin rejuvenation in darker skin types.
If you have a recent suntan or sunburn, or are currently wearing a fake tanning product, it is likely that your treatment will have to be delayed.
Patients with an active skin infection, a history of keloid scarring or skin rashes following exposure to light will not be suitable for the Lumecca treatment. If you are pregnant or currently breastfeeding you will not be suitable for the Lumecca treatment and will need to await the period of weaning your child before we can embark on a treatment plan.
What can I expect to happen during treatment? We apply a thin layer of gel on your skin to “guide” the light and to protect it. We also provide our patients with special protective eye gear during the treatment in order to prevent the light from damaging your eyes.
How many treatments will I need? For optimal results we recommend a course of 3-6 treatments every 3-4 weeks.
Does It hurt? Most people do not find Lumecca treatment uncomfortable and liken it to the sensation of someone flicking your skin. Lumecca also comes with built-in sapphire cooling tips that provide protection for the skin and produce an almost painless procedure.
What are the possible side effects? You should expect some redness on the treated area, subsiding after a few hours. Skin may also feel itchy for a short period of time. Mild swelling, crusting or small blistering, especially in areas with thin skin near the eye, can occur. All side effects should naturally resolve within a week. Finally, The risk of burns during IPL treatment is extremely rare.
What Lumecca results I expect? Lumecca treatment will reduce and correct pigmentation and minor vascular concerns such as thread veins, in addition to providing overall skin rejuvenation, producing younger-looking skin, with noticeable improvements after the first few weeks.
How long will results last? Lumecca results are expected to last around 12 months or longer when following a comprehensive prevention and maintenance skincare protocol. Results are not permanent as natural ageing and accumulated effects of sun damage continue with the effects of their processes appearing with time. We thus recommend repeating treatments once or twice a year to maintain results.
How much does it cost? The cost of Lumecca photo rejuvenation will depend on the number and size of the areas that you are treating. A bespoke solution and price will be discussed with our doctor, however, prices start from £175.
