What is Ellanse ?

Ellanse is an injectable filler-like product (by Sinclair Pharma) that acts as a biostimulator of collagen designed to address the skin ageing process.

As we age, the volume or plumpness of our facial features slowly diminishes, with  the production of important building-blocks of the skin reduced. Put simply, the production of Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic Acid, slows down. As a result, the skin begins to sag and wrinkle, thus affecting the overall appearance of the face.

Ellanse injections stimulate the natural production of collagen. Importantly, rather than provide immediate short-term results, Ellanse is designed to engage with the body over time.

Many prospective patients confuse Ellanse with Hyaluronic Acid based Dermal Fillers , which only provide a temporary filling affect. Ellanse is made of Polycaprolactone, a bioresorbable soft medical polymer, that provides ultimate results due to its combination of unique features of viscosity, elasticity and uniform homogeneity.

What is Ellanse for?

We use Ellanse for the following indications:

  • Repairing and restoring natural volume in the cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial (nose-to-mouth) line and marionette (mouth-to-chin)  lines;
  • Plumping defects such as chin indentations or acne scarring;
  • Restoring volume in the hands to reduce the skeletal appearance associated with hand ageing.

The Rae Factor

Ellanse perfectly coincides with the Rae Clinic’s ethos of regenerative aesthetics, whereby we use the natural healing power of the body to optimise all anti-ageing treatments performed in the clinic. The enriching methods that we offer can help boost the effect of injections and increase the natural healing process and rejuvenation. We add skincare treatments containing polypeptides, vitamins and amino acids to increase the collagen stimulation and the increase of volume within your skin.

How does it work?

Ellanse is made entirely of non-animal sources and contains Polycaprolactone (PCL), a biodegradable polymer that has been used in other medical procedures for several decades. Significantly, the PCL microspheres create a scaffold of sorts within the skin that as a result, stimulate the natural production of new collagen cells that form around this scaffold.

Over time, the body naturally and gradually disintegrates the PCL, however, the natural collagen cells remain. You can think of it like building a house. First, we put up the scaffolding for the bricklayers to build walls around. Then, the scaffolding comes down, but the walls of the house remain standing. The only difference is that once the PCL scaffolding comes down, your body keeps adding new bricks to the structure. As a result, you get a long-lasting result of up to four years.

How do I know if I am suitable for Ellanse?

During a consultation with our doctor you will discuss the areas of your concern and establish whether Ellanse is a suitable treatment for you. If you recently had other Dermal Filler treatments, please notify our doctor as this may require postponing your treatment with Ellanse.

A full medical history will be taken during your consultation to uncover any allergies, medication administration or other factors which might be unsuitable for any of the treatments that we offer.

If you are pregnant or currently breast feeding you will not be suitable for Ellanse treatment and will need await the period of weaning your child before we can embark on a treatment plan.

What can I expect to happen during treatment?

Much like other injectable treatments, Ellansé is an in-clinic treatment which is quickly performed and entails little to no discomfort.

The treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes, during which the product will be injected through several injection points, often in lines or crossed pattern shapes to help create the scaffold around which collagen will form.

Our doctor will ensure you are comfortable and informed throughout your treatment.

What is the Regenerative Factor?

With all our treatments we offer a bespoke and tailored Regenerative Factor to enhance the results, prolong the effect of the initial treatment and achieve more natural-looking results.

This regenerative concept is the fundamental ethos of our clinic.

Adding a Regenerative Factor to aesthetic treatments is at the cutting-edge of aesthetic medicine and we are very proud to be able to offer this added value treatment to all our patients in order to optimise their aesthetic outcome.

How many treatments will I need with ellanse?

Ellanse treatment is completed within one treatment session. Longevity (duration of action) is controlled and tuned depending on the length of the PCL chain within the Ellansé. Variety of products range from 12, 24, 36 and 48 months respectively (Short :S, Medium : M, Long : L, Extended : E).

Repeat treatments are recommended after one to four years depending on the original product used to maintain your enhancements and stimulate collagen production, as well as on your natural ageing process.

Does it hurt?

Like many aesthetic injectable products, Ellanse is mixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to reduce pain and discomfort.

On occasions we can also use a topical anesthetic or numbing cream which are therapists apply to the skin shortly before the treatment.

Our doctor is an expert in pain management and putting his patients at ease.

What are Ellasne possible side effects?

You should expect some minor redness, swelling and tenderness at the injection points. Bruising may also occur in some people.

All potential side effects will subside in no more than a few days to a week. Since downtime is limited you can return to your normal life and activities immediately.

Our doctor will provide you with further aftercare instructions. Asymmetry and irregularities might occur in the first couple of weeks after treatment. Our doctors will arrange a follow up appointment with you to evaluate and address any such issues.

What results can I expect?

Following the Ellanse injection, an immediate increase and improvement in volume will be visible. Unlike Hyaluronic Acid based Dermal Fillers, as this is not a conventional filler product, the carrier gel will dissolve within a few months.

Over time, your body starts to produce its own natural collagen cells over this matrix of microspheres which results in longer-lasting volume within the skin tissues. You will notice continued improvements over time as your own natural healing process progresses.

How long will Ellasne results last?

Ellanse provides long-lasting results, making it a semi-permanent injectable product.

Much like Hyaluronic Acid based Dermal Fillers it is metabolised by the body over time, however, this reabsorption process takes longer (1-4 years depending on the specific product used).

Of course, the results are not just about how long the product itself lasts within the skin. The effect of stimulating the production of your own natural collagen will last long after the PCL has been metabolised.

How much does Ellanse cost?

Ellanse injections cost will depend on the area you are treating, and the amount of product or syringes required to achieve the desired result. You will discuss your bespoke price with our doctor, however prices start at £690.
