Why Body Plastic Surgery?
When it comes to body contouring, fat reduction or breast enhancement, using non-surgical treatments cannot always achieve the desired result. Many times, optimal outcomes require plastic surgery procedures.
At the Rae Clinic, our aesthetics specialist plastic surgeon, Dr. Ali Ghanem, MD PhD FRCS Plast., conducts consultations regarding the comprehensive range of body plastic surgery procedures available at the clinic. Together with Dr. Ghanem you will be able to make an informed decision whether a surgical option would best meet your needs and achieve your optimal desired results.

Our Body Procedures
Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Abdominoplasty, also known as ‘tummy tuck’, is suitable for both men and women, although it is more commonly associated with women as a solution for post-pregnancy excess skin in the stomach. It is also suitable for individuals who are interested in recontouring their abdomen after significant weight loss.
As commonly known, breast augmentation/enlargement includes an implant or the patient’s own body fat, foregoing synthetic materials.
We can achieve a larger cup size, correct asymmetries in breast sizes, add volume where congenital defects or childbearing has reduced the natural breast size.
Heavy or large breasts, ageing and childbearing, can all effect the positioning of the female breast. A breast lift operation can be used to remove excess skin that results in the sagging of the breast. This allows it to be repositioned for a perkier appearance. Often this can also improve overall comfort in the breast area.
Sagging skin in the upper arms, often referred to as ‘bingo wings’, is associated with both ageing and significant weight loss. This type of body plastic surgery procedure seeks to remove excess skin under the upper arm to tighten the area and restore a more youthful appearance to the arm.
Significant weight-loss can result in skin laxity and excess skin in the thigh area for both men and women. This type of body plastic surgery procedure seeks to address this by removing problem skin folds which can also impact walking and the patient’s daily activities.
Liposuction is designed to remove small pockets of fatty tissue that are resistant to diet and exercise efforts. It is ideal for fat removal in the inner and outer thighs, buttocks, back, abdomen, chest, knees and upper arms, targeting the so called ‘muffin tops’, ‘bingo wings’, ‘man boobs’, ‘love handles’ or ‘saddle bags’.
BodyTite™ combines liposuction and radio-frequency energy to stimulate both fat removal and tissue tightening, ideal for body contouring procedures.
In other words, we use Bodytite to remove fat without the concern of lax skin post-liposuction. This holistic approach to liposuction is ideal for those who also wish to contour and reshape their body.
How do I know if I am suitable for treatment?During a consultation with our plastic surgeon Dr. Ali Ghanem, you will discuss whether a surgical procedure is the best option for achieving your desired result.
During your consultation a full medical history will be taken to uncover any allergies, medication administration or other factors which might be unsuitable for any anesthesia or surgical interventions.
If you are pregnant or currently breast feeding you will not be suitable for any surgical operations and will need to await the period of weaning your child before we can operate.
What can I expect to happen during treatment? All plastic surgery operations are performed in aCQC-registered Hospitals by our estimated, award-winning reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon, Dr. Ghanem.
Does It hurt?Surgical procedures such as tummy tucks, breast implants, thigh, breast or arm lifts and liposuction procedures are performed under general anesthesia or with sedation.
BodyTiteTM procedures can also be performed using infiltration of local anesthesia. This means that you will feel no pain during the procedure, however you can expect to feel some pain and discomfort once any anesthesia has worn off.
This will be managed through your aftercare programme with the use of pain killer medications and cooling options where required.
What are the possible side effects?
All surgical procedures carry risks which will be openly discussed with you during consultation and again before your surgery.
Risks and side effects of body plastic surgery include scarring, infection, bleeding, bruising and pain. Anesthesia also carries its own risks which will be discussed.
What results can I expect?Body plastic surgery procedures produce immediate results, either in terms of skin tightening, reshaping or augmentation, particularly where excess skin has been removed or implants placed; However, you will need to wait for any redness, swelling and bruising to subside during the weeks and months following your surgery, before the final outcome becomes fully visible.
While you recover, adding regenerative medicine techniques and ingredients will further enhance your healing process and promote a more rapid repair response in your own body, further enhancing the natural results we are able to achieve.
How long will the results last?Body plastic surgery procedures are regarded as longer lasting than minimally invasive treatments used for body contouring, as they usually involve the permanent removal of skin or fat cells.
They also tend to offer a quicker solution as the procedure is performed in one operation, rather than other non-surgical alternatives.
