Facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that reverses saggy skin, wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging around the face and neck. This is done by lifting and tightening the skin, tissue, and muscles in the area. It is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the UK as it effectively restores a youthful appearance to the face with long-lasting results.
At the Rae Clinic, patients can choose to have either a mini, full, deep plane, or extended facelift. You will have the option to discuss the best option for you during a consultation with our surgeon. In this article, we’ll walk you through the costs associated with each procedure.

Combination Facelift Procedures
Facelift and Rhinoplasty
A rhinoplasty (commonly called a ‘nose job’) reshapes the nose in such a way that it adds harmony and balance to the rest of the facial profile. Many patients choose to combine a facelift with a rhinoplasty in order to enhance the youthful effect of the facelift.
As with other facial features, the nose is also affected by aging as it takes on a more prominent appearance as the skin, cartilage, and bone that supports the nose becomes weaker. Therefore, combining both procedures will produce a greater aesthetic effect with the added benefit of less downtime.
Facelift and Blepharoplasty
Likewise, patients also choose to combine a facelift and blepharoplasty (commonly known as ‘eyelid surgery’) for a more youthful appearance. The skin around the eyelids becomes increasingly lax with age and results in the accumulation of excess folds of skin and fat around the eyelids.
As a result, patients are affected both aesthetically as the eyes are the most prominent feature of the face and functionally as it can impede their peripheral vision. Patients can either choose to have an upper blepharoplasty (also known as an ‘eyelid lift’), a lower blepharoplasty (also known as ‘eye bag removal’), or both. Not only does combining both procedures produce an enhanced outcome, but it also reduces the downtime.
Does Insurance Cover Facelift?
A facelift is usually performed for cosmetic reasons in order to reverse the signs of aging. Therefore, it is unlikely that your insurance provider will cover the cost of the surgery.
Is Facelift Worth It?
A facelift is a popular cosmetic surgery that most patients who desire a youthful appearance consider to be worthwhile for several reasons:
- A facelift offers patients a bespoke solution for their facial ageing concerns, which our surgeons design based on the patient’s unique circumstances such as age, sex, and extent of skin laxity.
- A facelift can alter the deep structures of the face, making it the most effective cosmetic treatment for reversing facial ageing.
- A facelift produces long-term results that are expected to last between 7-10 years.
- A facelift does not leave behind any visible scars as the incisions are hidden by the natural contours of your face.
- A facelift is a generally painless procedure that is performed under sedation or general anaesthesia.
- A facelift has a manageable downtime, with most patients able to resume their daily routine in 2-3 weeks.
